Fantasia Review

Fantasia is an escrow and multisig darknet market. It is one of the darknet markets that use the Evolution clone script. It looks like a promising marketplace on the dark web with its decent-looking website and solid features. However, at the time this review was written, Fantasia darknet market had too few listings and several categories without listings.

How to Access Fantasia

The Fantasia darknet market is accessible through the Onion link http://6rycob3b6rkzvr3a.onion/. As such, it cannot be opened by just any ordinary web browser. You need the Tor browser to access it. If you are not familiar with this browser, we have a Tor browser download guide you can refer to. Moreover, you need to get acquainted with the use of a VPN service, PGP, and bitcoins. While the Tor browser is already enough to allow you to access Fantasia and other darknet markets and proceed to making purchases, you have to make sure that you effectively conceal your identity and avoid getting tracked as you get involved in the darknet trade.

You are most likely buying things from Fantasia or from other dakrnet markets because the items you intend to purchase cannot be purchased out in the open (read: illegal). That’s why you need to make sure that you will not be compromising your own safety as you buy or sell things on the Fantasia darknet market.

Account Registration

To get a Fantasia account, the process is quite similar to those of other darknet markets. You need to enter your account name, password, and PIN. The PIN should have at least 4 and at most 8 digits. However, Fantasia also asks for an email address and it is not optional. You can’t proceed with your account registration without entering an email address.

Be sure that you will not be using your personal or other frequently used email address here. If possible, create a new account with details that are not going to be associated or identifiable with you. You can’t use a disposable email for this purpose since this email address is required for your account recovery, not for one-time confirmation or verification.

The first time you log in, you will be presented with your security mnemonic (a string of characters). Be sure to securely save this because it is a requirement in case you have to reset your PIN. You will also be asked to enter your mnemonic (once, for the first and only time) before you can proceed to your account interface as you log in for the first time. In case you failed to save your mnemonic, just click Cancel so your mnemonic can be flashed on screen again.

All newly registered accounts are buyer accounts. If you want to become a vendor, you have to apply for it by clicking on the Vendor Apply link on My Menu. If you apply for a vendor account, you will be required to provide a PGP key in your public profile. You will also have to put a one-time deposit of 0.01 BTC (deducted from your account balance). This deposit will be given back to you after six months, if you prove to be a seller of good standing. On the Fantasia homepage’s news section, however, there’s a vendor sign up fee of 0.100 (no currency indicated) mentioned. We’re not sure if this is the same as the vendor deposit or not.

IMPORTANT: Once your application for a vendor account is granted, you will lose your ability to make purchases with your account. You will have to sign up for a separate account to be able to buy items on the Fantasia darknet market.

Fantasia Account Interface and Functions

Fantasia has a rather plain-looking interface. There are no graphics on the site, except for the tiny logo that looks like the profile of a growling canine creature, and the images for the listings. However, it’s an intuitive site that makes for easy navigation.

There are notifications on the top part of the site for messages and orders. You can access your wallet or Balance page by clicking on the BTC balance beside the notifications or by hovering your mouse pointer over My Menu and clicking on the Balance link. To change some Settings in your account and go to your Profile page, just click on the Settings link under My Menu.

The Settings Page has three tabs: Account, Profile, and Multisig. Under Account, you can change or reset your password and PIN and enable two-factor authentication. In the Profile tab, you can add your profile text, add your public PGP key, and set your currency. Setting your currency, though, does not mean that you will be using currencies other than BTC in making purchases. Here, you are simply setting the currency with which prices are shown. BTC is still the only currency used on the site. Lastly, for the Multisig tab, you will have to enter your bitcoin address and the default public used in generating the multisig address.

On the other hand, Fantasia has a good messaging system accessible through the Messages link under the account dashboard (My Fantasia page). It is labeled “Messages Inbox” but it is actually more than just an inbox. It comes with the ability to send messages, mark messages as read or unread, “star” messages, and filter messages.

You don’t need javascript support to access all the pages and functions of the Fantasia darknet market. The site looks and behaves in the same way whether or not javascript support on the Tor browser is turned on.

Despite being a small market, Fantasia scores well in visual presentation. The listings, in particular, are neatly presented. There is no dedicated Categories and Listings page for this darknet market (a page that shows the categories and some featured listings in one page). However, this is not that much of an issue. If you want to start browsing for items to buy on the site, you can proceed to using the search bar near the top part of the site or you can go to the homepage and click on the categories to the left.

Fantasia Search and Search Filters

Fantasia has a good listing search feature. At first, it would seem that Fantasia’s search bar can only do something like searching in specific categories but it actually has advanced search filter and sorting functions. The filter feature only appears after you do a search. On top of the search results, there’s a blue Filter button. Click on it to show the filter options.

There are four filters available. You can display search results based on their shipping origin and the shipping destinations accommodated. You can show search results only for items that fall within a specific price range. You can get rid of items from non-active vendors (vendors that were not active in the site for the past 96 hours). You may also exclude items that require you to finalize early (FE) by clicking on the “No FE Listing Only” tickbox.

For those who are new to darknet market buying, an FE item means that the vendor/seller will require you to finalize the purchase transaction even before delivery is made or before the terms of the transaction are fulfilled. It is not advisable to finalize early, especially if you have not had a series of successful transactions with a particular vendor yet.

How to Choose a Vendor

Evaluating vendors on Fantasia darknet market means you have to examine the vendor profiles on the site. Vendor profiles present the vendors’ registration date, last login date, feedback ratings, PGP key, return policy, and rank. Be sure to choose vendors that have a high ranking, those that have been on the site for a long time (based on account registration date), those that are active on the site (based on last login date), and those that have the best feedback ratings. Also, be sure to limit your choices to vendors with favorable return policies.

Moreover, it is important to be mindful of a vendor’s stealth. Stealth refers to the overall ability of the vendor to package the physical item you buy in a way that makes it less detectable or perceivable upon physical inspection. Good stealth means that the item you buy is sent to you in a package that makes it difficult for anyone to detect what’s inside the package by touch, hearing, sight, and smelling. You can usually get an idea as to whether or not a vendor offers good stealth by going over the feedback section of the vendor profile.

Adding and Withdrawing Funds on Fantasia

Like many other darknet markets, Fantasia employs a deposit system for funding purchases. To send funds to your Fantasia market account, you have to go to your Balance page (link is on the hover menu on My Menu). You will find in this page your deposit address. Send your bitcoins to this address and wait for 2 confirmation to have the deposit verified and reflected in your account.

The deposit address changes with every deposit so be sure to go to the Balance page to get the new address instead of saving the old one. The old address, however, may still work for a period of up to 7 days. If you mistakenly sent your deposit to an old address 7 days after it was used, the amount will still be credited to your account

IN terms of withdrawals, the process is simple. Just fill out the Withdraw form in the Balance page, just below the section that shows the deposit address. You will have to enter your PIN for each withdrawal. You will also be charged a 0.01 transaction fee for every withdrawal transaction, which is automatically deducted from the amount you withdraw.

Ordering Guide

Ordering an item on the Fantasia darknet market is not different from how it is done with other marketplaces on the dark web. After clicking on the Buy It Now button, you will be brought to the New Order page, where you have to enter the quantity you want and select your postage option. You then have to enter your shipping information (make sure encryption is turned on) and click the Continue button to proceed to selecting your escrow mode (more on this below), review the transaction, proceed to completing it (without finalizing) and wait for the delivery. The transaction will be finalized after delivery or after the terms of the sale have been met.

There are two escrow modes on the Fantasia darknet market. These are the regular or traditional on-site escrow, wherein the payment is withheld by the site pending the delivery or fulfillment of the sales terms, and ⅔ multisig escrow. For the uninitiated, the ⅔ multisignature bitcoin payment method means that there are 3 signatures generated for a bitcoin payment transaction (one for the seller, one for the buyer, and another for Fantasia). Only two of these three signatures are needed to release the payment to the seller. The buyer may sign the transaction after receiving the item purchased along with the seller, thereby releasing the payment to the seller. In case the buyer fails to sign the transaction (finalize the order/transaction) and a reasonable amount of time has already passed to presume that the item has already been delivered, Fantasia may intervene and sign the transaction to release the payment to the seller.

Fantasia Market Support

Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a support page or an encrypted method to contact Fantasia’s support team or admin. Its official forum is also yet to be made available, as indicated by the “Forum opening soon” text at the bottom part of the site.

Pros and Cons

  • Neat (albeit almost sparse-looking) and intuitive website
  • Traditional escrow and 2-of-3 multisig payments

  • Few listings and vendors
  • No official forum for users and no contact/support details
  • Frequent downtimes during the review period
  • You need separate accounts for buying and selling. A buyer account loses buying functions once the seller/vendor account application is approved.
